One of the hardest things as a leader is making sure that you carve out time for yourself. This is especially difficult in churches and Christian organizations which is both ironic and hypocritical as all Christians should make time with family as well as friends a priority. This is a tremendous part of self care. Some assume that their ministry should come before their family and that this is the biblical thing to do, but it is not. As leaders, we must model healthy families and relationships to those we lead. This is one of the many reasons that setting aside time with family and friends is essential. Our ministry to our family is our first and most important ministry and as good leaders, we must model a healthy family and relational life to those that we lead.
